I have been storytelling in one way or another since I was a child. Disposable film cameras in elementary and middle school. Then a point and shoot. Journals spilling over with words. Working on the Yearbook staff in high school. And then becoming a high school English teacher.
Teaching high school kids is what I thought I would do for the rest of my life. But the Universe, in its wisdom, had other ideas.
One of the most beautiful things about my life (and I suspect, for others) is that not one single plan I had came to fruition or worked out the way I thought it would. And my life has been far better because of this.

I told my parents I wouldn't get married until after I graduated college.
I got married at 18 to a man I've known since second grade. He was and continues to be my best friend and greatest support.
I thought I was going to be an athletic trainer.
It took me 6 years to get a 4 year degree because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do.
I thought I would spend my entire life in Southwest Missouri.
At one point, we lived in 4 different states in a single year.
I thought I would spend the rest of my life teaching high school kids.
But, serendipity intervened.
About two years ago, the incredible teacher and healer, Kael Klassen, posted her annual Animal Spirit card pulls for each sun sign. And for me, it was an actual, huge, literal sign. I cried. With relief. And with some grief...because of the letting go I knew would have to happen.
My guide for the year was Badger. And that's when I knew: It was time to pursue this wholeheartedly and make it my purpose.
